When Johns Hopkins accepted me into their Science Writing Program I knew I had a chance to re-invent my life and return to my first love: nature writing. I'm an unlikely candidate for a Masters Degree in Science Writing. In 2018 I retired from a twenty year career teaching public school and finished a four-year elected term on the city's school board. These years left me little time to focus on writing. Today, it's my sole focus and I've chosen to write about Irish nature for my thesis. Check back in for new articles, stories and information.

In Fall 2019 I'll be in Ireland completing research for my thesis. Ireland and the European Union are making significant changes in natural land management. Join me on my journey of discovery.

Under California you'll find samples of my work. I've written for the Sacramento Bee, Sacramento Magazine, AARP Magazine, Sacramento Press, East Sacramento News, Wildlife Blogs and nonprofits.
